Cryobiology
Preparing biological samples for long term preservation requires a controlled rate freezing step. Immersion in liquid or vapor phase nitrogen, which results in ultra-low temperatures (between -135°C and -196°C), enables the preservation and short- to long-term storage of biological materials, such as mammalian cell lines or tissues.
